It’s been quite a while since we increased the version numbers for the CiviCRM Gift Aid extension, but we’re pleased to announce that Gift Aid 3.0 is out of Beta and is now ready for you to install. We wouldn’t be here without the support of The Photographers’ Gallery, big thanks to the team over there!
CiviCRM 4.6 and 4.7 compatibility
Some of you might mutter “it’s about time…” for this (I’ll let it slide) but we have ironed out issues and made the extension compatible with CiviCRM 4.6 and 4.7. In addition to being the currently supported versions of Civi, these two make up the majority of the user base. There aren’t any functional differences between them so don’t worry about needing to upgrade to get the best out of the extension.
Specify your gift aid-able financial types
For all of you looking to claim for only part of your memberships, look no further! It used to be that all contributions were considered donations by the extension. This isn’t flexible enough for modern charities so we’ve enhanced the configuration and you can specify which financial types are eligible for gift aid.
Go to Administer > CiviGiftAid > Settings to start using this. With clever configurations, you can drill this down to line item level and let Civi calculate your gift aid claims.
That 4-year claim rule
The declarations are updated so you can now claim for donations in the future as well as those from the past 4 years. Get your extension updated, get your declarations renewed, and get your gift aid claims sorted for the past 4 years. It couldn’t be simpler (if you completely ignore all of the administration)!
But the government changed the required format for online submission!
How dare they... Luckily, so have we. The report now matches the latest required format for the government, so this is another headache you won’t have. You’ll find it in the Contribution reports.
How to get it
As with all CiviCRM extensions, you can install or upgrade it from the ‘Manage extensions’ screen.
If you’re a developer, our repository is here: https://github.com/compucorp/uk.co.compucorp.civicrm.giftaid/. The repository is also the place where we’re looking for bug reports, so please log them as issues, and we’ll tackle them with you.
